Poetry: “The Aesthetic of Lana Del Rey Speaks to Old Dead Souls”

Shoot for V Magazine fall 2017

and she speaks

slowly, serenely,

sleek hide of a thoroughbred,

smoothed with jockey blood.

on her Kentucky Derby hat,

roses cradle sepulchers,

minute flames glide

on phoenix feathers,

a horse-bone brim hides topaz eyes,

never her cherry cola lips

from which all resurrections

begin and end, like ice cream,

slowly, serenely.
